Accomplice Told to Repay Bank as Part of Sentence

An accomplice to a Los Angeles police officer who robbed a USC-area bank in 1997 was sentenced to 2 1/2 years in federal prison Wednesday for her role, authorities said.

Errolyn Romero also was ordered to repay Bank of America the $722,000 taken in the robbery, said Thom Mrozek, spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles.

Romero worked as a teller at the bank. Her former lover, ex-Los Angeles police David A. Mack, was sentenced last month to more than 14 years in prison for his role in the Nov. 6 robbery.

The majority of the money has not been accounted for, and two more accomplices remain at large, authorities said.
