Small Quake Hits; No Injuries Reported
A magnitude-3.1 earthquake hit Ventura County early Monday, but few people panicked, Sheriff’s Department officials said.
“I heard no reports of the phones here lighting up or anything like that,” Sgt. Chuck Buttell said Monday afternoon.No damage or injuries were reported.
The epicenter was four miles northeast of Ventura, said Jill Perry, a spokeswoman at Caltech in Pasadena. The earthquake occurred at 12:07 a.m.
Another quake struck the surrounding region at 11:26 a.m. That one measured 4.6 and was 33 miles north of Joshua Tree, Perry said.
