Rancho Alamitos Turns It Loose Against Bolsa Grande

Rancho Alamitos earned its first Garden Grove League victory of the season, defeating host Bolsa Grande, 51-8, Friday night.
Mike Pounds put Rancho Alamitos (2-6, 1-3 in league) on the scoreboard halfway through the first quarter on a one-yard run. The Vaqueros then capitalized on a Bolsa Grande fumble at the Matador 25-yard line, recovering it and scoring on the next play, when Matt Hildreth caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Daniel Green.
Pounds scored again from one yard to put the Vaqueros ahead, 20-0, at the end of the first quarter.
Maurice Garcia caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Green at the 8:16 mark of the second quarter.
Thirty seconds later, the Vaqueros recovered a Matador fumble at the Rancho Alamitos 46-yard line. Green then threw a 46-yard scoring pass to Paul Soliai.
The Vaqueros scored again after a seven-minute drive when Strickland kicked a 40-yard field goal.
The third quarter ended with Green connecting with Garcia for a 27-yard touchdown pass play.
Bolsa Grande falls to 1-7, 1-3.
