One of the victims wounded in Monday’s bloody shooting that left two people dead at a Garden Grove auto accessories store was released Thursday afternoon from UCI Medical Center.

Edward “Eddie” Kim, 18, of Garden Grove, was shot in the back while browsing through car stereo displays inside Robotek, an auto accessories shop on Brookhurst Street, when the gunman attacked.

The bullet missed Kim’s vital organs, and he is well enough to go home, UCI spokeswoman Kim Pine said.

Two people were killed and four injured in the brazen daytime assault. Garden Grove police have not identified the gunman or determined what prompted the deadly assault.

Killed in the shooting were Mario Taborga, 21, of Anaheim and Tung Xuan “Tony” Ngo, 18, of Fountain Valley.

Store owner Charles Kim, 48, was shot five times and remains in critical condition at UCI. He showed slight improvement Thursday, Pine said.

Han Vo, 17, of Foundation Valley remains in fair condition at UCI with gunshot wounds to his neck and left hand.

A 15-year-old Santa Ana boy wounded in the attack was treated and released Monday night.

Witnesses described the gunman as an Asian male in his late teens to early 20s wearing a black baseball cap, a blue short-sleeve shirt and dark pants. He is 5 feet, 8 inches to 5 feet, 10 inches tall and weighs 140 to 180 pounds. The gunman escaped in a 1990 to 1995 gray MVP Mazda minivan.

Forensics experts continued Thursday to process fingerprint and handprint samples collected from the scene while detectives sifted through tips.
