Obituaries : Loren Herbison; 80-Year Area Resident

Loren A. “Herb” Herbison, an 80-year resident of Ventura County, died Friday in Ojai after a long illness. He was 82.

He was born June 5, 1917, in Columbus, Neb. Herbison was selected as a member of the U.S. Olympic Team Marching Band in Los Angeles in 1932, and graduated from Ventura High School in 1933.

Known as “Herb” or “Babe” to friends and family, Herbison was a Navy veteran who fought in World War II. He later worked 35 years as a parts manager for McConica Motors.

He married in 1947. His family said he enjoyed camping, fishing, water-skiing and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey; sons Roger Herbison of Oak View and James Herbison of Washington; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura, which is handling arrangements. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
