Pet Shop Owner Slain Execution-Style, Police Say
Burbank police on Wednesday searched for a killer who burst into a Burbank pet store and shot the 27-year-old owner in what they said was an execution-style slaying, authorities said.
The dead man, identified as Sarkis Antonyan of Glendale, owned Pets R Us on North Victory Boulevard. He died at the scene Tuesday night after being shot several times.
Burbank Police Lt. Don Brown said that investigators believe Antonyan was the intended target because nothing was stolen.
“It looks like the person who went in there went in specifically after the victim,” Brown said. “That was his target.”
Police received numerous tips, including a report that agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation had been at the business, Brown said. It was not known how many times the agents had visited the business.
