Highland 10, Canyon 7--The Bulldogs were outgained, 322 yards to 228, but converted key plays in a victory at Highland.
Trailing, 10-7, quarterback Julio DeLeon of Vanyon was thrown for a two-yard loss on fourth and three at the Highland five-yard line with 6:48 to play.
Highland (1-1) ran out the clock by converting four third-down plays on its final possession.
Highland took a 10-0 lead on a 46-yard touchdown pass play from Jeremy White to Kevin Morris with six seconds left in the first half.
Canyon (1-1) dominated the second half. Running back Ryan Jones scored on a five-yard run in the third quarter. The Cowboys rushed for 310 yards, with Jimmy Perry and Jones each running for 100 yards.
On their next drive, the Cowboys drove to the Highland nine, but running back Casey Gordon fumbled and Jeremiah Freeman recovered for Highland.
Jose Duarte kicked a 29-yard field goal in the second quarter to open the scoring.
