Fire Doused at Glass-Etching Company
A Los Angeles Fire Department hazardous materials team was sent to the scene of a fire Sunday night to determine if several 55-gallon barrels of hydrochloric acid were damaged in the blaze.
“There’s concern, but no evidence, of any hazardous material leaks,” said Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells. “Firefighters were not sure if the barrels leaked or not.”
The fire, which was extinguished in 15 minutes, began shortly before 7 p.m. at a glass-etching company in the 7000 block of North San Fernando Road, Wells said.
“The building’s sprinkler system held the fire in check,” Wells said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
