Arnold Continues His Record Pace

Share

Name the Northridge career receiving record, Aaron Arnold owns it.

That’s the size of things after Arnold caught 10 passes for 130 yards and a touchdown Saturday in the Matadors’ 48-41 Big Sky Conference loss at Eastern Washington.

Arnold’s career total of 2,320 yards eclipsed David Romines’ record of 2,259 yards and added to his collection of Matador career records that includes 158 receptions and 21 touchdown catches.

It hasn’t taken long for Drew Amerson and Marcus Brady to become reacquainted.

Amerson, a freshman wide receiver, was a prime target for Brady at San Diego Morse High.

This season, Amerson has caught a touchdown pass in each game and ranks second to Arnold with 19 catches this season.

Brady certainly pulled out of an early season slump with a career-high 484 passing yards and a career-high five touchdown passes against Eastern Washington.

Both totals fell short of the Northridge records of 500 passing yards and six touchdown passes by Aaron Flowers, now a Matador assistant.

Linebacker Brennen Swanson is a half-sack short of tying the Matadors’ career record of 20 sacks.

The record is held by Dan Lazarovits, who played from 1994-97.

Northridge plays Idaho State on Saturday at North Campus Stadium in a rematch of last season’s finale that cost the Matadors the Big Sky title.

Needing a victory at Pocatello to clinch the title, the Matadors were defeated by the Bengals, 32-29.

That should be enough motivation for Northridge (1-2, 0-1 in conference play), which might easily overlook Idaho State (2-2, 0-2).
