Beach Closures

Excessive bacteria in the water prompted Ventura County officials to post two county beaches with no swimming signs.

Tests show unsafe conditions at Hobie Beach and Channel Islands Harbor Beach Park in Oxnard. Water pollution has been a problem at those beaches since September.

Swimmers should keep at least 50 yards from each side of the signs to avoid bacteria, advise officials at the Ventura County Environmental Health Division.
