Ice Dog Winning Streak Ends
For only the second time in the last 12 games, the Ice Dogs were defeated Friday night, losing, 3-1, to the Houston Aeros at the Long Beach Arena.
The loss ends the Ice Dogs’ season-high seven-game winning streak.
Trent Cull got the Aeros going early when he scored his second goal of the season only 33 seconds into the game. Pavel Torgaev scored with 47 seconds left in the first period to tie it for the Ice Dogs.
In the second period, Houston scored twice more while the Ice Dogs were unable to generate any offense off their 10 shots.
Nikolai Khabibulin, making his 21st consecutive start for the Ice Dogs, recorded only his ninth loss of the season.
