DANA POINT
A 600-foot stretch of Salt Creek Beach and Monarch Beach was closed Wednesday after 300 gallons of raw sewage spilled into the ocean from a storm drain pipeline.
The spill was caused by rags and roots being clogged in a South Coast Water District sewage pipeline, according to the Orange County Health Care Agency.
The agency will decide today whether to reopen the section after examining water samples.
Dana Point beaches have been closed seven times this year.
