* Fan Convention--First it was “Star Trek,” then “The X-Files.” Now, fans of the Sci-Fi Channel’s “Farscape” series have a place to go. The first official “Farscape” fan convention is slated this weekend at the Burbank Hilton. On hand will be the entire cast of the show, including Ben Browder (Commander Crichton), Claudia Black (Officer Aeryn Sun), Virginia Hey (Zhaan), Anthony Simcoe (D’Argo) and Gigi Edgley (Chiana). In addition, behind-the-scenes footage, onstage presentations, contests and licensed merchandise will be featured. * Classical--Musical director James Domine will lead the San Fernando Valley Symphony in a concert of Russian music Sunday at Warner Park in Woodland Hills. The program will include Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Scheherazade” and Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances.” As a finale, the ensemble will perform Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture,” accompanied by the cannons of the 1st Battalion, 144th Field Artillery of the California National Guard. * A Cappella--Burbank’s “Almost Free” concert series at the Starlight Bowl will present a night of a cappella music Sunday, featuring the Blenders and Rockapella. The Blenders, a Minneapolis-based group, have toured throughout the United States and performed with such acts as Jay Leno, Howie Mandel, Blues Traveler and Lou Rawls. Rockapella was formed in New York City in the mid-1980s. In addition to its television commercial for Folgers coffee, the group has been featured on PBS and in concerts with Billy Joel, Sting and Don Henley.
