DANA POINT
The South Coast Water District has voted unanimously to release $50,000 for use until Dec. 31 for public-relations services.
Public-relations contractor Kathy Barnum will draw $3,800 per month as a salary from the sum, according to Regina Barnes of the water district.
The district has allocated $100,000 this fiscal year to disperse information to the public.
Mike Dunbar, the district’s general manager, said the position is needed because water issues such as sewage spills and beach closures are closely watched by the public.
