* Update--A Houston win today in the Western Conference finals will end Los Angeles’ season. A Spark victory sets up Game 3 on Monday night in Inglewood. Although the Sparks swept the Comets, 3-0, during the season, Houston scored an unexpectedly easy 77-56 victory on Thursday in Houston. Los Angeles never recovered from a 17-0 Comet run in the opening minutes. Houston got a combined 43 points from WNBA MVP Sheryl Swoopes and Cynthia Cooper. What’s more, the Comets beat the much bigger Sparks inside, outscoring them, 26-18. Although Mwadi Mabika made seven three-point shots, L.A. was only eight of 22 from three-point range.
