Sonia Flores Case

* Re “Perez’s Former Lover Will Plead Guilty to Lying to the FBI,” Nov. 30: The FBI let Sonia Flores off easy because they understood how emotional she was? If Flores’ lawyer’s statement is true, I am appalled at the FBI for blatant sexism. Would a man be let off for crimes because his girlfriend broke up with him?

What Flores did was a selfish act that wasted hours and hours of investigation time as well as prevented Rafael Perez from taking the stand in the Rampart case. Flores committed perjury and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. The fact that she gets away with a slap on the wrist sends a message that being emotional is an excuse for inexcusable crimes.
