Coach Gil Kim says 6-10 center Wade DeSmidt is the tallest player in St. Bonaventure history. The senior’s breakout performance was a 24-point, 12-rebound outing against Hueneme last week.
Kim says the 184-pound DeSmidt can be an impact player if he bulks up and becomes more aggressive.
“He’s too nice on the court,” Kim said. “He needs to get two personalities. I don’t want him to change away from the game. He’s the nicest kid. But he needs to be more aggressive in the games.”
Kim says DeSmidt has a good outside shot and can become an inside force. He complements returning All-Tri-Valley League forward Chris Saunders, the Seraphs’ top shooter.
“[Saunders] can score from anywhere,” Kim said. “If [DeSmidt] plays well, we’ll have a new dimension.”
