Reserve Flowers Won’t Let Kapono Forget

Share

Reserve point guard Jason Flowers has played in two games, logging four minutes. He’s hoping for a little more action Saturday against UC Irvine, where he played for two seasons before transferring to UCLA.

Even if he doesn’t set foot on the court again in this, his senior season, Flowers has a lifetime of basketball memories to savor. One of his favorites? Holding Jason Kapono to a single point when Flowers was a senior at Bellflower High and Kapono was a star freshman at Artesia. Kapono scored 14 against him in their first meeting.

“I always remind him of that one-point game,” Flowers said. “He tries to deny it today. But whenever he decides to go in the draft and does that thing on TNT, I’m going to slip TNT the tape from that game.”
