In what police suspect was a case of “road rage,” a 48-year-old man was shot to death Tuesday by a man who inexplicably got out of a car and began firing at the victim on a busy Los Angeles street.

Police said Juan Moran of South Gate and a woman were driving in the 4600 block of Washington Boulevard, near La Brea Avenue, about 4 p.m. when a Cadillac stopped ahead of them. That driver began to back up, as if to parallel park, and ran into Moran’s car, police said.

The passenger in the Cadillac got out and began shooting at Moran and the woman. The killer then got back into the Cadillac and it sped away.

Moran died at a hospital from gunshot wounds to the torso, said police Det. Kelly Cooper. The driver of the car he was in was uninjured.

The Cadillac was described as a sky blue, four-door, late 1980s model. The killer was described only as Latino.
