Fred Di Palma has resigned as Savanna High football coach after 12 years in the position, Athletic Director Larry Anderson said Thursday.

“I’m resigning because of some family health issues I’m dealing with,” Di Palma said. “I feel I need to step back and take a break for a while. I still have a desire to coach, and I’ll see what happens down the road.”

Di Palma’s teams were 75-53-4 at Savanna and made nine playoff appearances, winning the Southern Section Division VI title in 1993.
