Reductions on Reductions Make It a Buyer’s Market

The week after Christmas probably offers the best shopping of the year for serious bargain hunters. It is the only time some people shop on Rodeo Drive, but there are spots that offer better deals. The sale of the week is at Morrie’s in downtown Los Angeles.

Known for years as a source for St. John knits at deep discounts, its inventory also includes Calvin Klein, Oscar de la Renta, Anne Klein, Cousin Johnny and DKNY. There is a regular 40% reduction on St. John knits, but for this sale you can deduct another 25%. On Oscar de la Renta pieces, prices are 80% lower than retail. Same with Anne Klein. An item that was $200 would regularly be tagged at $100 and is now down to $40.

If you didn’t get the handbag you wanted for Christmas, check out the purses from Liz Claiborne and Esprit for $10 and $15, which were originally up to $69. A few leather jackets are on the racks, also at terrific reductions.

Another hot sale is for the mother-to-be. A very chic and new-to-California maternity shop is Liz Lange, which opened in August in Beverly Hills. This is its first post-Christmas sale, and you can expect 40% to 60% off the regular retail prices.

Leather pants in several colors that were $200 are now $100. Matte jersey V-neck dresses were $195 and are now $117. Most stretch herringbone pieces are now 50% off, such as the jumpers for $112 (formerly $225), skirts for $92.50 and jackets for $192.50.

Sale runs through the end of the year.
