The U.S. youth A team defeated Australia, 8-3, in the semifinals of the North American Junior Championships girls’ water polo tournament Friday in Montreal. The U.S. B team lost to Canada, 10-4, in the other semifinal. The final is today. Brittany Hayes of Foothill High scored twice in a 19-3 victory over Canada B to help the U.S. team get the top seeding for the semifinals.

In the boys’ NorAm tournament at the Joint Forces Training Base at Los Alamitos, the U.S. A team advanced to today’s 11 a.m. final with a 9-4 victory against the U.S. B team. Japan won the other semifinal over Australia, 16-11.
