Saddleback Wins Santa Ana Tournament

Rahshaw McAfee scored 26 points and Mark Brown had 19 points and six assists to lead Saddleback to an 87-74 victory Friday over Santa Ana in the final of the Santa Ana Holiday men’s basketball tournament.

Saddleback (15-2) shot 54% from the field.

Zac Fray led Santa Ana (9-7) with 25 points and eight rebounds.

In the semifinals of the Allan Hancock Holiday Classic:

Irvine Valley 71, Sequoias 67--Chris Ferguson scored 20 points and Erik McGhee had 16 for Irvine Valley. Chet Johnson scored 14 points and Mike Ahmad had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Lasers.

Irvine Valley (10-6) will play tonight at 7 against an opponent to be determined today.

In a consolation game:

Cypress 67, Cerritos 61--Brandon Erquhart scored 15 points, Adam Rachlin added 14 and Pat Douglass and D. Jay Lucas had 13 each for the Chargers (7-8), who play Cuesta today at 5 p.m. in the consolation final. Tony Booker scored 13 points for Cerritos (7-10).

In nonconference women’s basketball:

Orange Coast 69, Rio Hondo 54--Karyn Fierst had 18 rebounds and six assists, Kristen Urban added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Nadia Mojica finished with 14 points for the Pirates (10-6).

Pasadena 59, Golden West 53--Monica Curiel scored 17 points and Randi Perry added 12 before fouling out for Golden West.
