The Good Die Young, Especially in the NFL
The most unfortunate thing about the passing of Derrick Thomas is that he represents a small percentage of the modern athlete. Instead of the “me” attitude that most of the ego-driven, modern-day pro athletes have, he went out of his way to look after those less fortunate. His family, friends and community mourn his loss, but so should the NFL because it is the real loser in this tragedy.
Paul Tagliabue and the NFL could use a lot more players with the character, integrity and class of Derrick Thomas. Instead, they are left with who’s being indicted, held under suspicion or arrested.
