A moderate aftershock of last fall’s Hector Mine earthquake, measuring magnitude 4.4, rocked an area of the Mojave Desert near that earthquake’s epicenter early Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
There were no injuries or damage from the 1:57 a.m. aftershock, centered 37 miles east of Barstow along Interstate 40 in a sparsely populated area.
Several smaller earthquakes followed. There have been thousands of aftershocks of the 7.1 quake that occurred Oct. 16.
