Car Hits Abutment and Driver Dies
A Rancho Santa Margarita woman was killed when her car struck a guard rail and bridge abutment on the Costa Mesa Freeway in Tustin, authorities said Tuesday.
California Highway Patrol Officer Katrina Lundgren gave this account of the accident, which happened Monday night:
Mary Jo Williams, 66, was traveling south near the connector to the southbound Santa Ana Freeway when she suddenly veered left. Her 1995 Honda Accent, which was traveling about 65 mph, hit the rail and then struck a concrete bridge abutment.
