Ice Dogs Hold Off Kansas City
Rob Pearson scored the first goal of the shootout and Vladimir Vorobiev’s shootout goal put the game out of reach as the Long Beach Ice Dogs defeated the Kansas City Blades, 2-1, Saturday for their eighth victory in nine games.
With the score tied, 1-1, going into the shootout, Long Beach turned to goalie Nikolai Khabibulin, who remains perfect in shootouts this season--he has now stopped all 18 shooters he has faced. Khabibulin stopped all four shots in Saturday’s shootout.
In the first Ice Dog attempt of the shootout, Pearson scored on Tyler Moss. Vorobiev shot third.
