A man suspected of drunk driving set off a chain reaction in Westminster on Saturday night that involved six vehicles, police said.
The driver, Jose Luis Gomez of Anaheim, was being held Sunday in the jail ward of Western Medical Center-Santa Ana on suspicion of felony drunk driving.
Police said Gomez, 42, was driving his 1988 Chevrolet Beretta west on Trask Avenue at about 7:09 p.m. when he ran a red light at Beach Boulevard.
He struck a Ford Escort traveling north on Beach, sending the car into a vehicle southbound on Beach.
Gomez’s car crossed the center divider, struck a red Corolla, then ran into a red Acura. A Chevy Suburban was also hit, said Sgt. Al Panella of Westminster police.
Several people in the other vehicles had minor injuries, police said, and one person had a broken arm.
