Fire Does $85,000 Worth of Damage to Plastics Factory
A fast-moving fire swept through a Fountain Valley plastics factory early Friday, causing more than $85,000 in damage, officials said.
No one was injured in the blaze, which began shortly after 1 a.m. at Prototype Concepts, in the 10800 block of Kalama River Avenue, said Capt. Joe Cuccinotti of the Fountain Valley Fire Department.
Firefighters from Huntington Beach and Santa Ana also helped fight the fire, which apparently began with a reaction between chemicals in trash cans and shipping containers, investigators said.
The 34 firefighters at the scene extinguished the blaze in about half an hour.
