Firefighters aided by morning fog and high humidity worked Saturday to surround a 185-acre fire in Los Padres National Forest.

More than 500 firefighters contained 70% of the blaze, said U.S. Forest Service spokesman Gerry Little.

The Oaks fire began Thursday nine miles north of Santa Barbara in heavy underbrush that had not had a natural burn in 70 years.

Also Thursday, nearly 100 firefighters contained the 150-acre McKinley fire 30 miles northwest of Santa Barbara, just east of Zaca Lake. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries. No structures were affected.

The cause of both fires was under investigation, Little said.
