Bruce Willis, who proved adept at working with a child co-star in last year’s “The Sixth Sense,” tries it again in “Disney’s The Kid.” This time, Willis plays a 40-year-old image consultant named Russ Duritz, who literally comes face to face with himself as an 8-year-old called Rusty (newcomer Spencer Breslin). While Russ is none too pleased to be reminded of his younger, awkward self, Rusty is also unhappy to discover that he grows up to be an unmarried, childless “loser” who doesn’t even have a dog. Co-starring Emily Mortimer, Lily Tomlin and Jean Smart. Jon Turteltaub (“While You Were Sleeping”) directs.

* “Disney’s The Kid,” rated PG for mild language, opens Friday in general release.

That jazz cat-in-the-hat, trumpeter Chuck Mangione, has delighted music fans over the years with his clean, melodic approach and hits including “Feels So Good” and “Land of Make Believe.” He’ll appear with his ensemble at Green on the Hill, a new, park-like, hillside venue with box and lawn seating (it’s OK to bring a blanket and a picnic basket but no alcohol), with full bar and a view of the downtown Los Angeles skyline in the distance.
