The New Short Fiction Series, billed as “L. A.’s only live literary magazine,” presents the racy adventures of “Darling,” by Evelyn Duboff, Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Lankershim Arts Center, 5108 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood. Montreal-born Duboff has received awards for her writing and performed her work at the Odyssey Theatre in Los Angeles. She is completing a screenplay.

Also featured will be spoken-word artist Sally Shore, plus guest performers Lynee Oropeza, Julie Pop, C. C. Pulitzer and Suzanne Tara. $10. (323) 662-7900.

* Singer-songwriter Lisa Johnson will hold an Indiegrrl Showcase, featuring Johnson and three other Los Angeles female songwriters, Saturday night at Exile Books & Music, 14925 Magnolia Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

Besides Johnson, Kimberly White, Georgette Dashiell and Che Zuro will perform. Indiegrrl, founded in 1998 by Seattle musician Holly Figueroa, is an Internet forum for independent women music artists.
