Father Charged With Abuse in Death of Girl, 5
A Santa Ana man has been charged with felony child abuse in the death of his 5-year-old daughter, police said Monday.
Rudolfo Avila, 31, was arrested Friday after summoning police to his home on Magnolia Avenue, authorities said. On arrival, officers found the child, Natasha Ramirez, unconscious on a bedroom floor and transported her in very critical condition to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where doctors performed an emergency operation to relieve bleeding and pressure on the girl’s brain. The child died of her injuries about 7 p.m. Monday, authorities said.
Avila remained in custody at the Santa Ana Detention Facility with bail set at $250,000. He is charged with felony assault resulting in the death of a child under the age of 8.
