Suspect Arrested After Standoff at His House
A police SWAT team surrounded the home of a man who allegedly attacked a paramedic Friday and then rammed two police cars with his vehicle, causing minor injuries.
David Glover, 36, was arrested after a four-hour standoff that ended when police fired tear gas into the house, stormed inside and fired rounds from a beanbag gun to subdue him, said Los Angeles Police Officer Jason Lee.
About 3:50 p.m., paramedics were responding to a domestic violence call in the 8400 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard when Glover attacked one of the paramedics and fled, slamming into two police cars that had come to the scene, Lee said.
After a dash around the block, Glover drove back to his home and barricaded himself inside. Police believed he was armed with a knife and a hammer, Lee said.
No one else was inside the house.
Two officers suffered minor injuries when their cars were rammed, Lee said.
The paramedic was not seriously hurt in the scuffle, according to Fire Department spokesman Jim Wells.
Glover was taken to a hospital for treatment related to being tear-gassed and possibly bruised by the beanbag rounds, Lee said. Glover was set to be booked on suspicion of assaulting two police officers with a deadly weapon.
