Los Angeles County

CASTAIC LAKE--Largemouth bass and an occasional trout are being caught, but the action is fair at best. Live baits are working best for bass.

PYRAMID LAKE--Largemouth bass, catfish and an occasional striped bass are being caught. Fishing is fair to good overall.

Ventura County

LAKE CASITAS-- Anthony Nixon, Goleta, 12-11 bass on a plastic worm. Sye Fukui, Goleta, 12-pound bass on a crawdad. Live shad is working best. Top trout was a 3-8 by Roger Snowbarger, Ojai, on live shad. Some catfish.

LAKE PIRU--Bass and trout action is fair. A 7-pound bass was caught on a waterdog.

Santa Barbara County

LAKE CACHUMA--Trout remain the best bet and fishing is OK. Catfish action is slow, but a 21-pounder was caught. Red-ear perch are biting on night crawlers.

Orange County

IRVINE LAKE--A 13-9 bass was caught and the bite is fair for much smaller fish. Catfish action is fair to good and two 32-pounders were caught on night crawlers. Trout are still the top draw and biting well for anglers using four-pound-test or even lighter line.

LAGUNA NIGUEL LAKE--Catfish action was excellent last weekend and should be very good again for this weekend’s night-fishing crowd. Trout are still being caught at the creek inlet and crappie and bluegill are in the shallows.

OSO RESERVOIR--Bass action remains very steady. One duo teamed to catch and release 102 fish in one day using spinnerbaits and crankbaits.

SANTA ANA RIVER LAKES--Catfish action is good and the largest was a 12-1. Mackerel is the top bait.

San Bernardino County

BIG BEAR LAKE--Trout fishing is steady for trollers using Rapalas and Kastmasters and fair for bait fishermen.

GREEN VALLEY LAKE--Top trout was a 5-6 caught on Power Bait. Fishing is fair to good overall.

JESS RANCH LAKES--Trout are biting on inflated night crawlers and Power Bait. One weighed in at 4-2. Catfish are biting on mackerel and “but best results [have] been guts from fish cleaned at [the] sink,” the weekly report says.

Riverside County

CORONA LAKE--Catfish averaging two pounds paced the action, but a few trout and Crappie are being caught. A 13-2 catfish tops the list.

LAKE PERRIS--Top bass was a 12-4 by Thanh Sam, Whittier, on a crawdad in the marina area. An 11-6 was caught by Tony Gamboa, Perris, on a plastic worm. Fishing is pretty good for bass. Bluegill are biting on crickets.

LAKE SKINNER--Striped bass action has tapered off, but the bite remains fair on mostly anchovies and chicken livers. Some largemouth bass.

San Diego County

LAKE CUYAMACA--Trout remain reluctant to bite, but some are being caught and a few are topping four pounds. Inflated night crawlers are best.

SAN DIEGO CITY LAKES--Bluegill are very active at Lower Otay and San Vicente. Bass action is fair to good at El Capitan, Hodges and Lower Otay. Catfish action is improving at El Capitan and Lower Otay. Trout action remains fair at Miramar and slow to fair at Murray.

LAKE WOHLFORD--A 9-5 bass caught on a plastic worm tops the list, but the bite is only fair. Trout are biting on bait and lures.

Eastern Sierra

The post-Memorial Day weekend doldrums have set in. Crowds are way down this week but the weather is beautiful and the fishing good in most areas. Trout to about four pounds are cooperating throughout Bishop Creek Canyon and the water has risen enough to allow boats at South Lake. Mammoth Lakes hot spots: Lake Mary, Rock Creek, Crowley Lake and Convict Lake and creek. On the June Loop, June Lake might have the edge, but all lakes are producing. In the Bridgeport area, strong winds blew early in the week, but the wind settled by Wednesday and the fishing was fair to good at all the lakes. Virginia Lakes are ice free.

AVILA BEACH (Patriot Sportfishing)--11 anglers (2 boats): 68 rock cod, 6 rockfish, 3 red rock cod, 33 bolina, 1 ling cod.

SANTA BARBARA (Sea Landing)--22 anglers (2 boats): 97 calico bass, 17 sand bass, 2 barracuda, 22 rockfish, 1 sheephead.

OXNARD (Cisco’s)--80 anglers (5 boats): 32 white sea bass, 11 yellowtail, 10 white fish, 2 sheephead, 6 sculpin, 50 sand bass, 120 rockfish, 10 red snapper, 1 halibut, 77 calico bass. (Captain Hook’s/Gold Coast)-- 54 anglers (3 boats): 14 white sea bass, 6 yellowtail, 4 halibut, 6 calico bass, 32 rockfish, 15 whitefish, 21 red snapper, 50 sand dabs.

PORT HUENEME--35 anglers (2 boats): 19 white sea bass, 4 yellowtail, 17 calico bass, 1 barracuda, 2 halibut, 1 sculpin, 4 whitefish, 2 black sea bass.

MARINA DEL REY--113 anglers (6 boats): 18 halibut, 745 barracuda, 155 calico bass, 178 sand bass, 10 rockfish, 1 ling cod.

REDONDO BEACH--64 anglers (3 boats): 125 calico bass, 140 sand bass, 340 barracuda, 3 sculpin, 1 sole.

SAN PEDRO (L.A. Harbor Sportfishing)--118 anglers (5 boats): 32 white sea bass, 60 yellowtail, 452 calico bass, 74 barracuda, 42 blue perch, 6 sheephead, 2 white fish, 2 rockfish, 3 sculpin. (22nd St. Landing)-- 169 anglers (6 boats): 33 yellowtail, 6 white sea bass, 412 calico bass, 131 sand bass, 166 barracuda, 1 halibut, 17 sculpin, 3 sheephead, 15 white fish.
