A Palmdale man was sentenced Tuesday to one year in County Jail and five years probationfor stabbing a Simi Valley resident in the heart during a rock concert and fighting event in January at Dakota’s Mesquite BBQ & Grill.

Benjamin Wolf, 23, was also ordered to pay $265,400 to the victim, 28-year-old Abel Guevara, for medical and therapy costs, plus future medical costs, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors and the attorney for the victim expressed disappointment with the decision.

The ruling includes a suspended sentence of seven years.

Any violation of probation could land Wolf in jail for the full seven years, said prosecutors, who sought six years in state prison for the defendant.

He pleaded guilty to charges of assault with a deadly weapon and special allegations of inflicting great bodily injury.

Including time served, Wolf is scheduled to be released before the end of the year.

Derek E. Shea of Acton, who pleaded guilty to similar charges for the unrelated stabbing of 25-year-old Casey Holland of Simi Valley at the same event, is scheduled to be sentenced July 14.
