A special event for pets “whether they walk, crawl, slither, swim or fly” will be Sunday at Huntington Beach Church of Religious Science. The Day of Blessing Our Animals will feature free pet wellness exams from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by the ceremony at 5 p.m. There will be a table for photos of pets unable to attend. Pat McCully of the charity group Circulo de Amigas will speak at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach. Circulo de Amigas aids in the provision of medical clinics, clean water and high school computers to poor communities in Nicaragua. Charles Frazee, professor of Christian Church history at the Episcopal Theological School in Claremont, will describe “The First Christian Century” at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Orange Coast Unitarian Universalist Church. A 2000 Jubilee Mass will be celebrated at 4 this afternoon at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Laguna Beach. The event will be in conjunction with all parishes in the Orange Diocese. Father Michael Manning will give the message “Come Follow Me” as part of a Healing Mass and Service at 7:30 p.m. Monday at St. Angela Merici Church. Manning is an author and host on the nationally syndicated TV show, “The Word in the World.” Those suffering from emotional, physical or spiritual illness or those concerned for someone who is, are encouraged to attend. The 18th annual Summer Choir School will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at United Methodist Church of Garden Grove. The session, which is open to children in third through eighth grade, will provide singing and instrument lessons.
