Boaters Rescued After Battery Dies
Two stranded boaters were rescued after their engine battery died this weekend during a day of fishing, authorities said.
Ed Bowen of Ventura used his cell phone to call a commercial towing service about 10 p.m. Sunday, Coast Guard Petty Officer Bobby Rudder said.
An unidentified friend had reported Bowen’s 17-foot Boston Whaler missing after it failed to return to Ventura Harbor by 9 p.m.
The Coast Guard began a brief search before learning the boat was being towed back to the harbor, Rudder said.
