Dead Woman IDd as Arleta Resident
A woman found dead in a car trunk has been identified as Maria Arevalo, 22, of Arleta, coroner’s officials said Sunday.
Her body was discovered Saturday by police who had been called to an apartment complex in the 9400 block of Van Nuys Boulevard in connection with a vehicle believed to be stolen, police said.
Authorities examined the late-model Nissan Maxima and sent it to a police garage in Northridge for further investigation, said Sgt. Rodolfo Santos of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Devonshire Division.
“A window was shattered. Evidence in the interior suggested foul play,” Santos said.
A county coroner’s official said Arevalo’s body will be examined today for a cause of death.
