Soreness in Right Foot Slows Clancy

Share

Sam Clancy, who broke a bone in his right foot Jan. 20, will limit his practice time this week because of soreness.

But he said he expected to be fit enough to play against Washington on Thursday.

“It’s a soreness that comes and goes,” said Clancy who missed 11 games because of the injury. “There’s no swelling. Right now it’s fine.”

Clancy would like to return to the starting lineup but said he will not press Coach Henry Bibby.

“If I don’t start, it’s not a big deal because I know I’ll play anyway,” he said.

Brian Scalabrine, whose right hip injury has been diagnosed as a pulled muscle, said he was able to move more freely Tuesday. He also expects to play.

“I couldn’t even walk Saturday [against Cal],” said Scalabrine, who still played 37 minutes. “But I’ll be ready to go Thursday. Right now I’m just resting and getting therapy three to four times a day.”
