Nesby Returns to the Team

Share

Tyrone Nesby, after missing two games to be with his mother who suffered two strokes last week, was back with the Clippers for Saturday night’s game against the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center.

Nesby also missed a couple of games earlier this season because of the poor health of his mother, who moved to Los Angeles to receive better medical treatment.

“They are going to keep running tests to see what is causing [strokes],” Nesby said. “Only time will tell.”

Backup center Keith Closs, who had been on the injured list because of lower back spasms, was activated for Friday’s game at Denver with power forward Mario Bennett being waived.

Closs, sidelined five games, played 15 minutes against Denver. He has averaged 3.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.26 blocked shots this season.

Bennett, coming off surgery to his left knee last summer, had been sidelined the two previous games because of a sore right knee.

Interim Coach Jim Todd is uncertain when power forward Brian Skinner and veteran point guard Eric Murdock will come off the injured list.

Skinner, who has missed 34 games this season, was placed on the list on Feb. 26 because of a nagging left ankle injury and Murdock, who has been sidelined 27 games, was put on the list on Feb. 23.
