Lancers Beat Sonora to Win Tournament Laura Miklos singled, stole two bases and scored the winning run on an error in the third inning as Orange Lutheran defeated Sonora, 1-0, in the championship game of the Garden Grove softball tournament.

Miklos also pitched five shutout innings to earn her fourth victory for the Lancers (8-2-1) and hand Sonora (8-1) its first loss.

In the semifinals, Orange Lutheran upset No. 8 El Modena, 3-2, in 10 innings. Senior Jessica Edwards (4-1-1), the tournament MVP, struck out 17.

In the Covina Charter Oak tournament:

No. 1 Mater Dei 5, Glendora St. Lucy’s 0 (11)--Tia Bollinger, who has struck out 203 in 16 games, went the distance for the Monarchs (16-0), striking out 12 in the second-round game.

Mater Dei defeated Rosemead, 7-3, in the first round. Christina Clark had three hits and two RBIs.

In the Downey tournament:

No. 9 Loara 5, Capistrano Valley 4--Mandy Servello had a grand slam and drove in five runs for Loara (12-1).

In nonleague games:

Aliso Niguel 2-6, Trabuco Hills 1-0--Erin Wallace had three doubles and Jessica Vernaglia had three hits and three RBIs for Aliso Niguel in the doubleheader. Freshman Amanda Samonte (4-1) won the first game, striking out five. Nicole Weibort (3-1) pitched a three-hitter in the second game for the Wolverines (7-3).

No. 3 Foothill 7-7, Newhall Hart 1-0--Freshman Caitlin Lowe was five for five with a home run, three stolen bases and four RBIs in the two games for Foothill (8-1).

In the first game, Courtney Fossatti (5-0) pitched a no-hitter, striking out nine and giving up one unearned run.

Rosary 1, El Dorado 0--Christa Arriaga hit the game-winning single in the fifth inning, driving in Dana Kenney, who was three for three for visiting Rosary (8-4). El Dorado is 4-5.

In Serra League baseball:

No. 7 Mater Dei 15, Servite 5--C.J. Cook drove in four runs with three hits, including a home run, for the Monarchs (7-3, 1-0). Brandon Espinosa (3-1) gave up one earned run for the Monarchs.

Greg Celio hit a home run for Servite (4-5).

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 9, Marina 6--Junior Brett Flowers had a home run, two doubles and two RBIs for host Huntington Beach (5-5, 1-2).

Junior Russ Oschman had two hits, scored twice and stole two bases for the Oilers. Oschman has stolen 12 bases in 12 attempts this season.

In nonleague baseball:

No. 4 Esperanza 19, Tustin 7 (6, mercy)--Matt Parrish had a grand slam and five RBIs for Esperanza (9-1) and Robert Nesbitt had three hits, including two doubles, and two RBIs.

Foothill 5, Costa Mesa 3--Phil Alderson gave Foothill (4-6, 1-2) the lead in the second inning with a three-run home run. Starting pitcher Nick Dolle (1-1) gave up one hit in the victory.

Kennedy 10-10, Inglewood Morningside 0-0--Joe Caira had four hits and six RBIs in two games to lead the Fighting Irish (6-3-1) to a pair of mercy-rule victories. Aaron Scholl and John Jojola combined to limit Morningside to three singles in the first game, and Brad Roberts and Brian Peterson matched the feat in the second.

In nonleague boys’ tennis:

No. 1 Corona del Mar 14, Santa Barbara 4--Randy Meyers and Michael Bean didn’t lose a game in doubles for host Corona del Mar (11-1), which is ranked No. 3 in Division I. Santa Barbara, ranked seventh in Division II, is 9-3.
