Blockage Causes Sewer Line Backup
A backup in a sewage line at a naval housing tract in Camarillo caused up to 2,000 gallons of untreated sewage to spill into a canal near Point Mugu, officials said Wednesday.
The backup occurred Wednesday afternoon in a sewer line that runs near Calle la Cumbre in Camarillo.
The effluent discharged into the Camarillo Hills storm drain near Las Posas Road and flowed into the Revelon Slough, officials said.
The blockage was cleared about 2:30 p.m.
The Environmental Health Division advises the public to avoid contact with the water near the slough until after 2:30 p.m. Saturday because of high bacteria levels.
