Pitcher Terry Mulholland of the Atlanta Braves was taken to a hospital Sunday after having difficulty breathing during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Turner Field in Atlanta. Mulholland walked off the mound with one out in the fourth inning, having yielded eight hits and five runs.

“He had something in his throat and tried to cough,” Manager Bobby Cox said. “When he coughed, he did something in his back or chest. It was scary for a moment.”

Mulholland, 37 was taken to the hospital as a precaution. He underwent tests and doctors determined he may have suffered heat-related problems on an 89-degree day. Mulholland was released from the emergency room later in the day and is expected to join the team in Miami, where the Braves open a series against the Florida Marlins tonight.
