The body of a man believed to be in his 40s was found in a creek bed Saturday morning, authorities said.
A preliminary investigation by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department revealed no signs of foul play, Deputy Bruce Thomas said.
Responding to a call from a resident, deputies from the sheriff’s Malibu/Lost Hills station found the corpse at 11 a.m. just north of the 3400 block of Old Topanga Canyon Road.
The man’s death appeared to be accidental, possibly the result of a fall or a drug overdose, said Lt. Cheryl MacWillie of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The man, whose identity had not been confirmed, had been dead less than 24 hours, she said.
The coroner will determine the cause of death, pending an autopsy.
