Steve Runge, a Capistrano Valley High graduate now living in Florida, holed out from a greenside bunker on the first playoff hole to defeat former Ohio State roommate Chris Smith and win the Buy.com Tour’s Richmond (Va.) Open last weekend.

Runge and Smith finished regulation play at Stonehenge Golf and Country Club tied at 8-under-par 272.

It is the first victory on the tour for Runge, who won $72,000. He shot 4-under 66 in Sunday’s final round. Runge made a birdie on the final hole in regulation and Smith bogeyed to drop into a tie.
