Michael Jordan has offered the Washington Wizards coaching job to St. John’s Coach Mike Jarvis, TNT said Wednesday night, although a team source and the Washington Post disputed it.

The team source told The Associated Press the speculation was premature and that the team has no plans for an announcement through the weekend.

Though the Washington Post reported in today’s editions that Jordan, the Wizards’ president of basketball operations, had not offered the job to Jarvis, it did cite several sources who indicated Jordan is close to making an offer.

NBA Commissioner David Stern is expected to rule after the season.
