Arizona’s bullpen, already second in the National League with a 2.95 earned-run average entering Saturday, should get a boost today as closer Matt Mantei will likely be activated from the disabled list. Mantei has been on the disabled list since May 5 with soreness in his right shoulder.

Texas pitcher Kenny Rogers’ availability for next week is still in doubt. Rogers has been bothered by a sore left shoulder and will miss his second start tonight. Rogers is scheduled to throw on the side today. If he comes through that session without pain, Rogers could be ready to pitch Wednesday night at Oakland. . . . The Milwaukee Brewers said they will call up pitcher Jamey Wright next Tuesday. He has missed all season with a sub-surface rotator cuff tear in his right shoulder. . . . Cleveland Indian pitcher Jaret Wright, placed on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday with a strained muscle in his right shoulder, will throw off a mound Sunday. If he doesn’t have any setbacks, Wright will make a start on May 27 at Chicago.
