Lindsay Mendez, a student at the Orange County High School of the Arts, was honored at the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards as best vocalist in the non-classical category. The 17-year-old has been performing since she was 6, acting in such shows at “The Sound of Music,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Evita” and “Phantom.” Mendez is also a member of the Kids Next Door, a song and dance troupe that performs throughout Southern California and recently toured Las Vegas.
