NHL officials are trying to find who disabled the league’s official Web site.

Tom Richardson, general manager of the NHL’s Interactive Cyber Enterprises, said it was uncertain if one or more hackers had gotten into the site, NHL.com.

The league said it had filed a formal complaint with the FBI, in addition to asking several security firms to help halt the attack.

“It’s a very serious situation,” he said. “We are taking all steps necessary to get to the bottom of this and find the culprit or culprits.
